Aston Martin Valhalla – The Next Generation of Hypercar

In the car world, The Holy Trinity, individually referred to as the McLaren P1, Porsche 918, and Ferrari LaFerrari started a trend for a new class of car, deemed the ‘Hypercar.’ Contested by some, the hypercar introduces the next level of performance and technology that make supercars seem average by comparison.

Each of these hypercars implement electric motors, some able to drive on pure electric power, while others use electricity merely for added power benefits.

The Aston Martin Valhalla, or son of Valkyrie, is the latest addition to the British manufacturer’s lineup and entrance into the next generation of hypercars. A cliché in the best way possible, the Valhalla is composed of racecar DNA being derived from the collaboration between Aston Martin and the Redbull Racing Formula 1 team.

Details are scarce on the Valhalla, but after seeing it in person, there is no doubt that it will be a racecar for the street. With a driver-focused interior, the command center consists of a screen mounted in the middle to best provide the driver with necessary data without having to divert their gaze.

Aston Martin has announced it will be powered by a 1.6L turbocharged V6 that will be combined with a hybrid system, but it will not be shared with the Valhalla’s bigger brother – the Valkyrie. Aston also says it will be built in house and unique to the Valhalla.

The P1, LaFerrari and 918 set the bar for performance and technology in cars. Now, with cars like the Valhalla, and even the Mercedes Benz “Project 1” we are starting to see Formula 1 levels of technology become more and more integral to street-driven hypercars.

With inspiration coming from the power-trains in F1 cars, aerodynamics designed to be as efficient as possible, and a focus purely on driver experience, the racing roots run strong in this new era of vehicle.

We can’t wait to see the Valhalla in showrooms soon. 2640tv would like to thank Aston Martin Newport Beach for the opportunity to check out the Valhalla prototype in person.
