591 horsepower 2020 Audi RS6 Avant finally coming to US!

Yes, you read the title correctly; the Audi RS6 Avant is finally coming to America, and we’re stoked.

The legendary Audi RS6 first hit markets as a 2002 model, and was known to be a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Starting out as an avant (Audi’s monikor for wagon) with a sedan version to shortly follow, the original RS6 was produced with a twin turbo V8 pumping out 444 horsepower and 428 lb ft of torque. This was no ordinary station wagon, this was a monster.

Despite later generations getting more and more rowdy, they were not produced for the U.S. market. The most recent generation from 2013 to 2018 came with a 553 hp twin turbo V8 and was only produced in wagon form. Arguably the most badass wagon, Americans could only sit and drool as Audi was not manufacturing any for America…until now.

The launch of the 2020 Audi RS6 is epic for many reasons, but the most important one is simple: it’s coming to the US.

For the first time in Audi Sport’s history, Audi is bringing their premier sport wagon for us to enjoy. The new RS6 is fitted with a 4.0L twin-turbo V8 partnered with a 48-volt hybrid motor to produce a combined 591 horsepower and 590 lb ft of torque.

What does this mean? 0-60 in 3 and a half seconds. Perfectly necessary for taking the kids to school and picking up groceries.

Why is the RS6 finally coming to the US? Because we whined enough. Sport wagons have made a revival in the past few years with the likes of the Mercedes AMG E63 S wagon, as well as the Porsche Panamera Turbo Gran Turismo. It only made sense that the king of AWD euro sport wagons joined the party.

Check out the video above where we get a first-look into the new 2020 Audi RS6 Avant! We can’t wait to see some modded RS6 Avant’s hitting the half-mile circuit shortly after they hit US soil.
